<< Back to Team MembersDAVID KUO - PRINCIPALAfter spending 28 years in the US, pursuing his advanced degrees and working in various industries, David Kuo brings to NewCap Partners a unique combination of experience and understanding of the capital markets and investment banking practices in the US and the extensive hands-on experience of successfully originating, evaluating, and structuring business and investment deals in the Greater China region. Mr. Kuo joined NewCap Partners in 1990 to focus on business and investment opportunities in the Greater China region. He has traveled extensively in Asia since 1987 and developed excellent business contacts in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Mr. Kuo works very closely with a number of venture capital and investment firms in Hong Kong and Taipei, whose primary objective is to make direct investments in China as well as in the US. Mr. Kuo has acted as an advisor to numerous companies, including Fortune 1000 companies, on business matters in the Greater China region including distribution relationships, joint ventures, as well as mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Working closely with a leading full-service Taiwanese brokerage firm, he has advised several Taiwanese high tech companies in possible strategies to access the public capital market in the US. Previously, Mr. Kuo was a Vice President with Cheerful International Corp., an international trading and investment firm where he was responsible for pursuing joint venture opportunities in China as well as structuring strategic relationships between international companies, primarily in Pacific Rim counties.
Prior to joining Cheerful International, Mr. Kuo was with Central & South West Corp., a major electric utility company. He was responsible for the project development of various lignite mining operations and properties in Texas, the computer support of mine planning and engineering functions, and numerous mine economic evaluations and fuel supply cost analyses.
Mr. Kuo has a MS in Management and a MS in Mining Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla and a BS in Mining Engineering form Taiwan.
