Gary Hultquist, a Principal of NewCap Partners, has over 20 years’ experience as an investment banker, handling over $2 Billion in mergers, acquisitions, financings, joint ventures and licensing transactions for technology companies. His areas of focus include Life Sciences-Medical Devices, Information Technology-Internet, Cleantech, Advanced Materials and Semiconductor-Nanotechnology. He has completed M&A transactions or strategic assignments for Global 1000 and Fortune 500 clients in the U.S., Europe and Asia, including Furukawa (Japan), Saint-Gobain (France), Sumitomo (Japan) and Varian (NYSE) and completed M&A transactions or strategic assignments for smaller public companies in the U.S. and Europe, including: Alamar Biosciences (NASDAQ); Micronic Laser (Sweden); Newport Pharmaceutical (OTC); OnTrak Systems (NASDAQ); Tegal (NASDAQ); Trikon (U.K.) and Suss MicroTec (Germany). His completed transactions include the following public companies as counterparties: adidas (Germany), Advanced Energy (NASDAQ), Applied Materials (NASDAQ), ASML (Holland), Asyst (NASDAQ), Becton-Dickinson (NYSE); Clariant (Switzerland), Conner Peripherals (NASDAQ), FSI International (NASDAQ), Harris (NYSE), Intevac (NASDAQ), IntraOP Medical (OTC), Lam Research (NASDAQ), Rohm & Haas (NYSE), Tech-Sym (NASDAQ) and Tokyo Electron (Japan). Completed financings and Management Buy-outs include transactions with major national venture capital firms TA Associates and Thomas Weisel Partners. Mr. Hultquist brings his experience as a Board Member of large and mid-cap public and private companies to his investment banking assignments, enabling him to anticipate and meet the strategic needs of his clients. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of Kinder-Morgan Energy Partners (NYSE: Market Cap: $15 Billion) as Lead Director, Chair of Governance Committee and Member, Audit Committee. Previously, he served as Chair, Audit Committee for OnTrak Systems (NASDAQ) during its $110 million IPO and subsequent $350 million acquisition. He also served as Board Member and advisor to Rodel during its $200 million acquisition by Rohm & Haas (NASDAQ). He has also been qualified as an expert witness on valuation of private technology companies in California Superior Court. Prior to joining the investment banking industry, he practiced law for over 15 years, specializing in intellectual property, securities and corporate matters. His clients included Citibank, FDIC, Federal Express, Halliburton and Hillman Ventures. He served with the U.S. Army, including Vietnam. He received his B.S Degree in Accounting-Finance from Northwest Missouri State University, a J.D. degree from the University of Missouri Law School and attended The George Washington University Law School’s LLM in Taxation program. |
